When the world population is increasing, and electricity demands are rising high, most of the governments are looking for some healthy alternatives to serve the community. The city of Portland has planned to change the game using their revolutionary idea of environment-friendly water pipes. They are planning to generate renewable and clean sources of energy. To complete this project, the city of Portland has established a partnership with Lucid Energy. Their prime goal is to generate clean energy from the already flowing water in the city streets.
The teams have started their operation on this project by replacing a network of water supply with the modern patented Lucid Energy pipes. These specially designed pipes contain four pieces of 42-inch turbines; whenever water flows through these pipes, the turbine starts spinning and produced power transfers to the generators attached to the system. This energy utilizes the electrical grid of the city.
As per the content published on the FAQ page of the Lucid Energy website, this partnership with the city of Portland is the first clean and renewable energy project in America. A 20-year Power Purchase Agreement is in place for the energy generated by the municipal water pipeline system.

Lucid Energy has also released a promotional video explaining how this environment-friendly project works to generate renewable energy. Mr. Gregg Semler, The CEO and President of Lucid Energy, recently revealed that this project is quite different from the energy systems powered by wind and solar that are highly dependent on weather conditions such as wind blowing and the sun shining to generate energy. At the same time, this project makes zero impact on the earth’s eco-system while promising 100% safe and clean source of energy.
Another benefit of the Lucid Energy project is that it provides a cost-effective source of energy. These unique pipes from Lucid Energy are installed in the areas where the flow of water is already downhill and doesn’t require a special pumping arrangement. At the same time, this project helps monitor the quality of water supply in the city and gives a chance to improve it with regular testing.

As per the Lucid Energy team, this partnership is now in the final stage; as soon as the system passes the final testing phase, it will become fully functional. The installation of these energy-efficient pipes promises a generation of $2,000,000 worth of clean energy capacity just within 20 years.
Reports reveal that the current consumption of energy in the area is 1,100 megawatts hours of energy per year; hence, these innovative water pipes can serve almost 150 homes with ease. In the initial phase, the profits generated through this project will be distributed among the investors, the maintenance, and the construction cost. When the term of this 20 years project is over, the project will be transferred under the Portland Water Bureau.
